The shape of your land is the first thing most designs depend on, so Fieldwalker no longer waits to be asked for it. Give a map a location and the contours are simply there.
Contours appear on their own
- As soon as a map has a location, Fieldwalker reads the elevation for your site and draws the contours. No button to find.
- It chooses a sensible interval from the size of your property and the detail in the data, and never draws lines finer than the data can support. Change the interval any time.
- Maps you located a while ago get their contours the next time you open them.
- If your land is very flat at that interval, you're told so, with a suggestion to try a finer one.
Honest about the data
- A short note in the Contours panel says plainly where the elevation data came from and how detailed it is.
- The resolution shown is the true detail of the data, so you know what it's good for before you design on it.
Smoother, cleaner lines
- Contours drawn from coarse elevation data are now smooth curves instead of jagged segments.
- Lines never cross one another.
When a map has no location yet
- The Contours tab points you to a three-step guide, with a Position it now button that takes you straight there.
- On your phone, the Menu shows the same signal.
Exports and the elevation tool
- Exports that include contours now credit the elevation source in the footer.
- The elevation readout responds instantly after the first hover.
And throughout
- Moving a map to a new location now redraws its contours for the new place.
- Switching between maps while contours are loading no longer risks showing one map's contours on another.
